Description
Abstract : This work was made in the context of the Master Degree in Music Teaching, variant of Instrument (double bass) and Ensemble Music guided by Doctor Adriano Aguiar, teacher at Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas do Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco and by the Master Cooperating Cátia Góis Santandreu, teacher at the Regional Conservatory of Setúbal (RCS). It is a reflection of personal practice, and where, in addition to the school program, new elements such as creativity, improvisation and musical multimedia technology were introduced in the teaching of double bass at the RCS, where I teach. Four students who attend the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th grade of articulated basic education are enrolled in this subject. This work was developed during the practice of teaching the instrument in the academic year of 2021/2022, where aspects related to the practice of teaching the double bass were reflected, taking into account the physical elements, resources, methods, curriculum, lesson plans, assessment criteria, extracurricular activities and awareness of choosing the most important elements for the students motivation and academic evolution. A key student of the 1st Grade of Articulated Teaching was chosen to develop this internship project for Supervised Teaching Practices and apply the new extra-program elements such as creativity, improvisation and multimedia technology to complement the pedagogy of teaching the double bass mentioned above, in virtue of presenting the necessary characteristics for the intended results and of not having any previous knowledge of the instrument and its pedagogy. It has been proven that instrumental teaching has much to gain from creative practices, which include improvisation, allowing for greater integration, as they can easily develop musical discourse and its apprehension. Playing an instrument, as scientifically proven, is an act of great complexity. It implies the mobilization of a set of several skills in sync, such as: auditory, expressive, motor, performative, and reading practice. This requires a high effort of individual study with several repetitions, persistence and the will to correct the error. In addition to this, the musical instrument student still faces great anxiety regarding public exposure in auditions and concerts. This set of skills is thus very illustrative of the importance of motivation in learning a musical instrument. This study, based on some more recent investigations, aims to find strategies for motivation in learning a musical instrument in students of Articulated Basic Education, from the RCS, from the perspective of a questionnaire to teachers and students and some theories, development and improvisation, creativity and self-determination generating processes. The goal will therefore be to analyze the level of intrinsic motivation of the students, introducing improvisation and the support of multimedia technologies and to be able to compare the degree of creativity and enthusiasm of the students. To assess the level of motivation, the Portuguese version of a multidimensional measurement instrument, built from the perspective of the Self-Determination Theory: the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory, will be used. The participants are four double bass students from the Regional Conservatory of Setúbal, aged between ten and fourteen years old.
