Description
O presente Relatório insere-se no âmbito do 8º Mestrado em Cuidados Paliativos da Escola Superior de Saúde Dr. Lopes Dias, do Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco e é parte integrante dos requisitos para obtenção de grau. Este relatório encontra-se dividido em duas partes e pretende refletir sobre os conhecimentos e competências adquiridos durante o primeiro ano de aprendizagem teórica e consolidados durante a prática clínica. A primeira parte é uma descrição crítica e reflexiva sobre a prática clínica e divide-se
em dois capítulos. O primeiro capítulo é dirigido à caracterização do contexto de estágio, com descrição do serviço, sua missão e equipa, onde se inclui ainda uma breve análise estatística dos casos acompanhados. O segundo capítulo apresenta uma reflexão crítica sobre as competências adquiridas e a concretização dos objetivos delineados através da discussão dos casos clínicos mais desafiantes e marcantes. A segunda parte é dedicada ao projeto de intervenção, que se centra na área dos cuidados em fim de vida, nomeadamente nas últimas horas e dias de vida, e que surgiu naturalmente uma vez que a prestação de cuidados de saúde de excelência a doentes em fim de vida foi o mote para a concretização deste Mestrado. Neste sentido, foi
desenvolvida uma ação de formação nesta área do cuidar com o propósito de sensibilizar e dotar os profissionais de saúde com competências e conhecimentos que permitam um melhor acompanhamento a estes doentes. Nesta parte apresenta-se também uma revisão sistemática da literatura sobre a vivência da solidão no fim de vida.
Abstract: This report falls within the scope of the 8th edition of the Master’s Degree in Palliative Care of the Escola Superior de Saúde Dr. Lopes Dias, of the Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco and is a part of the requirements for obtaining the degree. The report is composed of two parts and aims to reflect on the knowledge and skills acquired during the first year of theoretical learning and strengthened during clinical practice. The first part consists of a critical and reflexive description of the clinical practice and is divided into two chapters. The first chapter focuses on characterizing the context of the internship, providing the unit’s description, its mission and the team, including a brief analysis of the clinical cases attended. The second chapter presents a critical reflection on the acquired skills and the accomplishment of the outlined goals through the discussion of the most challenging and remarkable clinical cases. The second part, stemming from this Master’s degree’s purpose of further understanding how to provide exceptional health care to terminal patients, is dedicated to the intervention project, centered on end-of-life care, particularly in the last days and hours of life. In this regard, a training course on the topic was developed to sensitize and endow health care professionals with the skills and knowledge to provide better care in the last hours and days of life. This part also presents a systematic review of the literature on experiencing loneliness at the end of life.
