O presente relatório surge no âmbito do 9º Mestrado em Cuidados Paliativos da Escola Superior de Saúde Dr. Lopes Dias do Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco com vista à obtenção do grau de mestre e com o objetivo de refletir sobre os conhecimentos adquiridos ao longo da aprendizagem teórica e sobre a aplicação e consolidação das competências especializadas nas áreas-chave dos cuidados paliativos. Os cuidados paliativos são uma abordagem que visa melhorar a qualidade de vida da pessoa e da família, prevenindo e aliviando o sofrimento através da identificação precoce, da avaliação correta e tratamento da dor e de outros problemas físicos, psicossociais ou espirituais (World Health Organization, 2020b). Para além da contextualização da prática clínica, o relatório tem ainda como objetivo refletir criticamente sobre a aquisição de competências especializadas nas áreas-chave dos cuidados paliativos e justificar e demonstrar a implementação do projeto de intervenção. No que diz respeito ao projeto de intervenção, este tem como objeto de estudo os cuidados paliativos na pessoa com paralisia cerebral. Pretendeu-se, assim, abordar a temática, demonstrando que os objetivos foram cumpridos e justificando as atividades realizadas.
This report is part of the 9th Master's Degree in Palliative Care at Escola Superior de Saúde Dr. Lopes Dias from the Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco which goal is to reflect on knowledge throughout the theory and on the application and consolidation of specialized skills in the key aspects of palliative care. Palliative care is an approach that aims to improve the person's and family quality of life, preventing and relieving suffering through the early pain assessment and treatment and relieving physical, psychosocial or spiritual problems (World Health Organization, 2020b). In addition to clinical practice, the report also aims to critically reflect on the acquisition of specialized skills in the key areas of palliative care and to justify and demonstrate the implementation of the intervention project. With regard to the intervention project, this has as its object of study palliative care in the person concerned with cerebral palsy. It was intended, therefore, to address the issue, demonstrating that the objectives were met and justifying the activities carried out.
