Description
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have a predominant role in the daily life of each citizen and in all their daily routines, since they are very present in today's society, and the education sector is no exception. However, there is still a limited use in an educational context, more specifically in Pre-School Education, where children do not make use of the potential of ICT in a systematic and regular way. In order to favor the inclusion of ICT, an investigation was carried out to find out which resource (digital or analogue) promotes better learning (eg shape, space and colour) in the Visual Arts sub-domain. In this sense, the objective was to include the use of digital technologies in the field of Arts Education/Visual Arts in order to be able to evaluate the differences in the production and appreciation of images (in an analog resource and in a digital resource) taking into account the development of children's graphics. Considering the research objectives that were established, an investigation of a qualitative nature was carried out, in the case of an action-research. The study was developed in the academic year 2020/2021 in a Kindergarten in the municipality of Castelo Branco, with a group consisting of 25 children, of which 5 (aged 5 and 6) participated in this project. As the main sources of data collection, participant observation and field notes were privileged during the pedagogical interventions; questionnaire surveys to Parents; the interviews with the Cooperating Advisor and two Kindergarten Educators from the group. During the investigation, three pedagogical interventions were carried out in which drawing activities were developed, both in analogue support (pencil drawing on paper) and in digital support (Paint drawing software), in order to find out which of the resources promotes better learning, in the Visual Arts subdomain. In general, and taking into account the results obtained, it was found that in Pre-School Education: ICT, more specifically the use of the Paint drawing software, promote better results in terms of the organization of graphic space by children; in analogue support, the results are better in terms of shape and colour. The results also point to the possibility that the use of the Paint drawing software could promote better learning, compared to the analogue support, if children used it regularly and systematically, in their daily routines, both at home and in an educational context.
