Description
Abstract : This report is part of the Supervised Teaching Practice course of the Master’s in Music Teaching - Music Training and Ensemble Music. It is divided into two distinct parts. In the first part is described the internship held during the academic year 2020/2021, in the Regional Conservatory of Castelo Branco with the 2nd grade class of the discipline of Music Training and Ensemble Class (Choir), consisting of 1st and 2nd grade students. This covers the contextualization of the environment and the conservatory, the characterization of the classes with which the internship was carried out, the planning, reflections and teaching material(s) used and culminates in a final reflection on the practice throughout the school year. In the second part, a research project is presented, entitled "The multiculturalism of musical genres in music teaching in Portugal". This had as a starting question "what is the level of presence of music considered "non-erudite" in the teaching of music in Portugal in the twenty-first century?" and resorted to a descriptive qualitative research, which had as instruments of data collection questionnaire surveys applied to music teachers of various disciplines of primary, secondary, and higher education. In summary, through this study the conclusions point that, although the culturally diverse repertoire is considered beneficial to the motivation and training of music students and the paradigm is gradually changing, in general, music from the European context and the classical genre continues to be predominant in specialized music teaching in Portugal, followed by traditional and more occasionally by jazz.
