Description
2019/2020. Contextualizamos a escola e o ensino e apresentamos as descrições
Abstract : The first part of this report presents the work developed by the trainee, in the Supervised Teaching Practice Course of the Music Teaching Master’s Degree – Musical training and Ensemble Music variant, developed in 2nd degree of Musical Education and Ensemble Music classes, Choir A, of the first and second degree, at the Regional Conservatory of Castelo Branco, through the school year 2019/2020. We contextualize the school and the teaching, and we present the reflective descriptions of the teaching practice in the disciplines of Musical Theory and Choral Ensemble Music. On a second stage, the report of the Research Study is presented, framed in the curricular unit of the Artistic Teaching Project, addressing the following subject “Musical Theater, as a learning vehicle in Music Education: Musical Theory”, developed in the first degree class of musical education at the Regional Conservatory of Castelo Branco, during the academic year 2019/2020. This research focuses on the use of Musical Theater in the discipline of Musical Theory, in the specialized Musical Education. The problem that was intended to be investigated is related to the development of new creative approaches in Musical Theory Education, realizing how the musical theater, through song, movement and interpretation, contributes, as a pedagogical resource in the implementation of strategies, to promote skills, interest and motivation in musical learning. Bibliographic references, questionnaire surveys applied to students, reflective summaries of classes and classroom observation grids, produced through direct observations recorded in the classroom, were used as research instruments. According to the evidence presented throughout the study, the strategies adopted reveal a significant improvement in student’s musical skills and knowledge, positively contributing to their motivation and interest in the exploration of musical content. In this sense, we understand that the results obtained throughout the study reveal that the practical application of Musical Theater in Music Theory classes can be a very significant pedagogical resource, substantially improving knowledge acquisition, interest and motivation for musical learning.
