Description
Abstract : This work is divided in two parts: description of the Supervised Teaching Practice of individual lessons by two clarinet students and music lessons in a group; and Research Project about the aspects inherent to the organization, methodology and personal characteristics that influence the motivation of the members of the Infanta Dona Mafalda Orchestra. Thus, it is intended to explain the importance of motivation in the learning process, as well as the role of the teacher in the implementation of strategies appropriate to each context, in order to maintain high motivational levels. 32 members of the mentioned orchestra participated in the study, aged between 10 and 46 years, which completed a sociodemographic questionnaire, a questionnaire about the relationship with the students of the orchestra and an adapted version of Harter's intrinsic versus extrinsic motivation questionnaire. Three interviews were also conducted for qualitative analysis. Overall, the results demonstrate that most participants manifest intrinsic motivation, in the various dimensions addressed: challenge (M=3.20), curiosity (M=3.12), mastery (M=2.89), judgment (M=2.89) and criterion (M=3.22), which seems to be related to methodological, personal and relational characteristics. It is concluded that the relationship between the teacher/conductor and the students/musicians is very positive and facilitates learning, creating synergies between all the players. The Orchestra has a very significant impact on the educational community of the school which it belongs and the orchestral practice with a familiarity repertoire leads them to study more instrument, demonstrating the important role of the orchestra in the personal, social and technical development of the students.
