Description
Atualmente, a fisioterapia no meio aquático é
fisioterapia e contraindicações a serem despistadas
ABSTRACT Aquatic physical therapy is currently considered an important tool in the treatment of multiple conditions. The assessment in aquatic physical therapy is composed of several components in order to guarantee the safety and effectiveness of the intervention, as well as shared decision-making therapeutic process with the patients. The goal of this review of the literature is to describe the importance of the adaptation and motor control in the aquatic environment and consequently in the physical therapy management. Therefore, it will be performed a review of the aquatic physical therapy’s history and its current context, the water’s physical properties and the physiological effects of immersion, the assessment strategies in aquatic physical therapy and contraindications to be investigated for a safe practice, the role of adaptation and motor control in an aquatic environment, assuring an accurate physical therapy management and exploring some strategies that are used in clinical practice.
