Description
Relatório de Estágio apresentado à Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco para cumprimento dos requisitos necessários à obtenção do grau de Mestre em Gerontologia Social.
De acordo com a literatura científica (Gonçalves & Neto, 2013; Ferreira, 2011; Neto 1992), a solidão é uma experiência emocional stressante e relaciona-se com o afastamento ou a perda das relações afetivas significativas. A solidão, dependendo do interesse dos contatos disponíveis e/ou das oportunidades que a pessoa tem para alterar a situação caso esteja insatisfeito, pode tornar-se complexa na vida do idoso. A temática da solidão em idosos institucionalizados foi um dos interesses e motivações que orientaram este estágio e, por isso, um dos objetivos delineados foi estudar a perceção que os idosos institucionalizados têm sobre a solidão e, a partir dos resultados, desenvolver um plano de intervenção que contribuísse para a prevenção da solidão. Dado que a Instituição onde realizei o estágio o Lar de São Mateus na localidade da Junceira, Concelho de Tomar, estava a implementar um plano de intervenção que tinha, como objetivos, entre outros, a prevenção da solidão, fui integrada na equipa técnica responsável pela implementação do plano do referido plano de intervenção. Assim sendo, e tendo por base a revisão bibliográfica, o objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a perceção de solidão em idosos institucionalizados. A amostra foi constituída por 33 idosos institucionalizados do Lar de São Mateus na Junceira, concelho de Tomar. Para a recolha de dados e, uma vez que o que pretendi avaliar com o estudo foi a solidão na terceira- idade, os instrumentos selecionados foram o questionário sociodemográfico que permitiu quer a nível dos dados sociodemográficos, quer a nível do processo de institucionalização e a perceção da vivência em contexto institucional fazer uma caracterização individual dos participantes, em seguida, a Escala de Solidão (UCLA) que avaliou a solidão. O presente estudo insere-se no estágio de natureza profissional onde, entre outras atividades realizadas, foi nosso objetivo estudar a solidão em idosos institucionalizados e desenvolver, de acordo com o plano de intervenção já delineado pela instituição, atividades de prevenção da solidão. Os resultados do presente estudo revelaram ausência de sentimentos de solidão nos idosos institucionalizados.
Loneliness is a stressful emotional and stressful experience related to the distance of loss of meaningful afective relationships (Gonçalves & Neto, 2013; Ferreira, 2011; Neto 1992). Loneliness, depending on the desire of the contacts available and / or the opportunities that the person has to change the situation if they are dissatisfied, can become complex in the lip of the elderly. The theme of loneliness in institucionalized elderly was one of the interests and motivations that guide this internship and, therefore, one of the objectives outlined was to study the perception that institutionalized elderly have about loneliness and, from the results, to develop an intervention plan. That would contribute to the prevention of loneliness. Given that the institution where I did the internship was implementing an intervention plan that aimed, among others, at preventing loneliness, I was integrated into the technical team responsible for implementing the plan. Therefore, and based on the literature review, the aim of this study was to investigate the perception of loneliness in institutionalized elderly. Thus, and based on the bibliographic review, the objective of this study was to investigate the perception of loneliness in institutionalized elderly. The sample consisted of 33 institutionalized elderly, referred by the Technical Director of the Home of St. Matthew in Junceira, municipality of Tomar. In order to collect data, and since what I wanted to evaluate with the study was the loneliness in the third age, the chosen selected instruments were the sociodemographic questionnaire that allowed to make an individual characterization of the participants, then the Loneliness Scale ( UCLA) that evaluated solitude. The present study is part of the professional intership where, among other activities, it was our objective to study loneliness in institutionalized elderly and to develop, in accordance with the intervention plan already outlined by the institution, loneliness prevention activities. The results of the present study revealed absence of feelings of loneliness in the institutionalized elderly.
