Description
Abstract : In the scope of the Supervised Teaching Practice Course of the master’s in music teaching, at ESART - School of Applied Arts of Castelo Branco, this internship report was developed between 2017 and 2019. This report is divided into two parts. The first part concerns the Supervised Teaching Practice, on the Tuba instrument and Ensemble Class, Symphony Orchestra conducted between September 2017 and June 2018. This Practice took place at the Castelo Branco Regional Conservatory. The second part concerns the research work. Our exploratory study studied the Importance of right-hand stretching exercises in teaching Tuba. This study focuses on an initiation student from Tuba, from the Covilhã Band, from Castelo Branco district, in the first semester of 2019. We also conducted a survey of brass / brass musicians, as well as interviews with music / Tuba and health specialists. The idea is to contribute to the reduction of injuries resulting from the practice. We consider it a pertinent study in the sense that we find ourselves in the context of the Tuba teacher training. Posture is essential for efficient and rapid production and should be developed to prevent injury to the Tuba player. This instrument has the specificity of moving the five fingers of the right hand in a continuous and continuous way causing a great repetition of movements. The problems we have posed for the study are: Can you avoid hand injury to the tuba player by stretching during and after music practice by using specific exercises? How does the initiation student relate to the stretching routine? Given the problem posed, three research questions were defined: What are the most effective conditions for the use of hand stretching exercises by the teacher and student as a resource and strategy to prevent injuries? What role does the teacher play in mediating the routine of hand stretching in Tuba classes with the student? What functions (preventive or otherwise) does the student assign to hand stretching during and after Tuba classes? The study concludes that, on the one hand, stretching exercises of the right hand allow the student to have a better perception of discomfort or injuries that are linked to the practice, particularly in the fingers and specifically in the ring. We conclude that it is ideal in regular practice to apply four to six exercises, lasting eight to ten seconds, during and after the practice. We also conclude that teacher moderation is a lever for a routine that should be a common pedagogical practice.
