Description
fundamentais, a NREM e a REM. É esperado que
um indivíduo adulto tenha uma alternância entre
essas duas fases, revelando assim uma arquitetura
normal do sono. No entanto, sabemos que esta
pode ser influenciada por fatores extrínsecos
provocando despertares.
estudo reflete o autopreenchimento de inquéritos.
Resultados
Relativamente aos hábitos de sono do bebé
verificamos que a forma habitual destes dormirem
é sozinhos no próprio quarto.
sono, eficiência do sono e qualidade do sono dos pais
do sono.
Abstract Introduction Sleep is a cyclical physiological process that is characterized in the adult individual by two fundamental phases, NREM and REM. It is expected that an adult individual will alternate between these two phases, thus revealing a normal sleep architecture. However, we know that this can be influenced by extrinsic factors causing awakenings. Ultradian rhythm is what prevails in the new-borns, with episodes of crying, interrupting the cycles of sleep of the parents. These individuals are expected to have their overall sleep time shortened and sleep quality diminished. Objective To study the impact of the birth of a child on the quality of parents’ sleep, with a geographical location in the municipality of Mafra. Materials and Methods An observational, cross - sectional study with a non - probabilistic sample and a convenience sampling technique performed in 51 individuals living in the municipality of Mafra. The study reflects the completion of self-completion surveys. Results As for the sleep habits of the baby we found that the habitual way of sleeping is alone in the room itself. As for the parents’ sleep habits, we found that, according to the PSQI, more than half of the parents had poor sleep quality, 5% of them had even sleep disorders. There were no statistically significant differences between the latency time, sleep duration, sleep efficiency and sleep quality of the parents and the number of children, type of feeding of infants and gender. In relation to the type of delivery, it was verified that there is only relation with sleep quality, with p-value of 0.026 and relative to the place of sleep of the babies, a relation with the latency time with p-value of 0.035 was verified. Conclusion Parents of new-borns have poor sleep quality.
