Description
idade.
lizada a estatística descritiva (média aritmética e desvio padrão) e a estatística inferencial (Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test, T-Student, One-Way
Anova e o Post-Hoc Scheff).
The research tried to respond to the reasons behind the choice of foo- tball as sport by children and youth of region of Castelo Branco and Coimbra, making comparison between the two regions, as well as find out the differences depending on age. The sample consisted of 220 children and young people with an average age of 12.82 ± 2.790 in both regions. Data were obtained by applying the QMAD (Serpa & Frias, 1990). Descriptive statistics were used (arithmetic mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test, T-Stu- dent, One-Way ANOVA and Post-Hoc Scheff). The categories / motiva- tional dimensions, the “skills development”, the “specific affiliation”, the “fitness”, “competition” and “pleasure”, were the most frequent, category / motivational dimension “status” was the less suitable for children and young people of both regions. When comparing ages, we found that there are statistically significant and very significant diffe- rences. Comparing the two regions, we found statistically significant differences in two categories / motivational dimensions. We conclu- de that there are statistically significant differences and significant in terms of the motivations for which the sample the subjects choose football as sport in the comparison between subjects of different age groups.
