Description
Knowledge and mastery of the body are essential for the child to build learning. If the child draws what he knows of himself, he projects his body image into the graphic representation of the human figure. The analysis of the human figure design is one of the resources that the educator can use to better understand the child and even to recognize possible changes in their motor, perceptual and social development. This study aims to know the schema / body image of children of 4, 5 and 6 years of age, through the representation of the human figure. In order to understand the phenomenon under study, we have stated the following problem: what is the schema / body image of children of 4, 5 and 6 years of age projected in the drawing of the human figure? This investigation is a case study. The sample, choosed in an intentional form, consists of a total of 18 children: 12 children attend a Kindergarten (six of 4 years, six of 5 years) and 6 children attending a school of the 1st cycle of Basic Education (of 6 years). For the analysis of the drawings we constructed an evaluation grid based on the Goodenough-Harris Human Figure Drawing Test scale. The adaptations were made taking into ac- 123Motricidade infantil count the characteristics of our sample and the response to the problem raised. The main conclusions show that the influence of gender is reduced in the results obtained through graphical representation of the body image, the same does not happen with age, where we can see an evolution in relation to the number of graphical indicators between 4 and 6 years.
