Description
desenvolvi durante o ano letivo 2016-2017 sob o título Estratégias construtivistas no
Abstract The following report is organized in two sections. The first section is a reflection on my years of professional experience teaching the piano and ensemble classes. The second part is the result of a research that I did during the academic year 2016-2017 under the title Constructivist strategies in the process of teaching and learning the Piano. The purpose of the project was to identify applicable constructivist strategies for the teaching and learning of the Piano, based on Gordon´s Music learning theory and its application at a practical level as proposed by Paul Harris´s Simultaneous Learning. More specifically I tried to develop Gordon´s concept of audiation in a group of students through the realization of preliminary exercises prior the actual learning of a piece. Having taught in the United Kingdom for 9 years, I realized that the teaching methodologies were different to the Portuguese ones in various aspects but particularly in the type of musician each system wishes to develop. I consider British methodologies closer to the most recent research on learning in general and musical learning in particular, fact which triggered the idea of applying some of these methodologies in my teaching activity in Portugal.
