Description
Abstract : This report presents a research study of a qualitative nature that examines the extent to which material difficulties represent a limitation on access to saxophone teaching. In order to understand the dimension of this problem, the main objectives were to define the factors that determine these same difficulties and to find ways and solutions that can help students and caregivers from disadvantaged families to have equal opportunities access to this type of education. This report is divided into two parts. The first one presents the description of the entire process of professional internship that took place in the premises of the Castelo Branco Regional Conservatory and that is the result of the work developed in the disciplines of Instrument (Saxophone) and Class of Big Band. The second part presents a research study that analyzes to what extent the material difficulties represent an obstacle in the access to the teaching of music focusing on a specific instrument, the saxophone. This work stems from the observation, in a practical context, of several cases in which the caregivers showed serious difficulties in acquiring the instrument and other materials needed for saxophone discipline and the need to - if possible - find strategies to minimize these difficulties
