Description
Abstract: The main focus of this dissertation is the comparisons between interpretations of L.V. Beethoven's Romanzen for violin and orchestra. In this particular case, the material used was video recordings and compact discs. The aim of this research is to understand the different interpretative models, the individual choices of each performer and, consequently, to exhibit our own way of interpreting the Romanzen. It is important to note that the interpreters belong to different violin schools and that their recordings are years apart, encompassing the 20th and the 21st century. In the elaboration of these comparisons, the approach taken was that of an aesthetic analysis of musical elements (duration and tempo, vibrato, articulation and sonority) applied to interpretations, by using segments that allow for an interpretative understanding of each performer. Thusly, coherent conclusions and structures for each interpreter are revealed, along with their performative vision.
