Branco para cumprimento dos requisitos necessários à obtenção do grau de Mestre em Gerontologia Social.
Este estudo teve como objetivo, delinear a forma como se encontra o relacionamento entre Avós e netos e se há condicionantes para o mesmo. Neste estudo, foram estudas duas Escolas: uma pública e outra Privada. Sendo que o universo de alunos de ambas Escolas é de 730 alunos de onde retiramos uma amostra de 308 alunos, sendo a estes aplicados um inquérito com 19 questões sobre o seu relacionamento com os Avós. Sendo que, na sua generalidade, os inquiridos de ambas Escolas detém as mesmas opiniões. As famílias são todas da localidade onde foi aplicado o inquérito. Sendo essas do tipo tradicional. Todos eles conhecem os Avós e têm uma grande ligação com os Avós maternos, os quais visitam todos os dias e com os quais realizam diversas actividades. Os inquiridos acham que os Avós assinalam momentos de brincadeiras, descobertas, proteção, ajuda económica, confidencias, orientação, disciplina, relações com o próximo e guias. Os inquiridos também afirmam se tivessem algum dos Avós doente/ acamado que, de acordo com a sua vontade, o tinham em casa e que ajudariam a tratar, ou no que pudessem fazer. No referente afetivo, os inquiridos, têm uma relação muito próxima com os Avós, contudo salientam-se diferenças entre as Escolas no que se refere a idade dos inquiridos, divisão por sexo e diferenças económicas existindo uma independência económica por parte dos Avós, bem visível na Escola Privada. São visíveis os laços que os unem “Avós e netos”, e que este contacto intergeracional proporciona, sendo um processo interativo e co-educativo com benefícios de trocas mútuas, onde os mais jovens e idosos têm a oportunidade de aprender e ensinar.
The main purpose of this study is to outline the way we find the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren and if there is any conditioning to that relationship. In this study, there were two schools studied, one public school and one private school, all located in Elvas. Being the students’ universe of both schools of 730 students from where we took a sample of 308 students, being to those made a questionnaire of 19 questions about their relationship with their grandparents. In general, most of the questioned of both schools had the same opinions. The families are all from the area where the questionnaire was made. All of them are from the traditional type. All of them know their grandparents, have a strong relation with their mother’s grandparents. They visit them all days of the week and do lots of activities with them. The questioned are from the opinion that their grandparents mark moments such as those of playtime, discoveries, protection, economical help, confidential, orientation, discipline, relations with others and guides. Those who were questioned also state that if they had some of their grandparents sick or in bed, according to their will, they would have them at home and would help to take care of them in all they would be able to do. In what concerns kindness, the questioned have a very close relationship with their grandparents, although they point some differences between schools in what concerns the age of the questioned, division by gender and economical differences, existing an economical independency from grandparents, mostly shown from those of the private school. The bonds that unit “grandparents and grandchildren“ are very perceptible, concerning what this intergenerational contact offers, being an interactive and co-educational process with mutual exchanges benefits, where youngers and older have the same opportunities to learn and teach.
