Description
Abstract: The ecology of human development is one of the new paradigms which involves the scientific study of mutual and progressive interaction between man and the context where he lives and interacts. The objective of our study is to check if there are statistically significant differences in the psycho motor profile between male and female children, aged 5, living in the rural area and in die city context. A questionnaire (Parents) and a “Bateria de Observação Psicomotora” from Vitor da Fonseca (1975), were the evaluation tools to gather the data for this study. To compare the scores from the tests, we used the Test of Mann-Whitney with the significance level of 0,05. Comparing the psychomotor profile in both studies we couldn’t observe statistically significant differences (p = 0,053 > 0,05). Although we have not found statistically significant differences, the results showed that children from the rural context have higher scores when compared with children from the city context.
